Udi’s Cinnamon Rolls

Denver bakery, Udi’s Handcrafted foods, has begun offering gluten free goodies! Not only can you get a sandwich made on gluten free bread at their bakery in Denver, but you can also buy their products at several area King Soopers stores. Two weeks ago I bought myself a package of their cinnamon rolls.

These are the best GF cinnamon rolls I have ever had. The package costs $5.99 and contains four HUGE rolls. They are covered in sticky icing and are rolled with lots and lots of cinnamon sugar. The rolls are frozen, so I defrosted mine in the microwave for about two minutes. The rolls don’t have any of that weird rice-y GF taste so many products have, and they are only slightly chewy. I think chewiness is just a fact of life for us with our GF products, but these rolls are so good and are so LESS chewy than most other products you can easily overlook that fact. And they taste delicious. I really felt like I was eating a real cinnamon roll.

So far it doesn’t look like Udi’s ships, but if you live in Colorado you can get their products at King Soopers.

Read their post about their new bakery here.

If these were non GF cinnamon rolls I would give them a B+, simply because of the texture, but as far as Gf rolls go I give them a A.

I’ve been a Celiac for the last 17 years and just now discovered a great bread I can buy at the grocery store! It is amazingly good right out of the package. It’s made by a dedicated Gluten Free Bakery in Denver called Udi’s.

I see that you’ve tried our cinnamon rolls. Udi’s would like to send you a sample of our other products to have you do a product review. We have white and whole grain breads, pizza crust, blueberry and lemon streusel muffins.

You are well respected in the gluten free world and can help us get the word out about a great product. Just as important is helping us spread a message to Celiacs that they can ask for and expect to get great tasting products through their local grocer and community specialty stores. We no longer have to settle for foods that taste so terrible no one else would ever eat them.

The products are currently on the shelf, or about to be sold, in Colorado, Texas, Minnesota, Utah, Kansas and New Mexico at top grocery chains such as Whole Foods, King Soopers, Vitamin Cottage, Kowalski’s Markets, Lund’s & Byerly’s, United Supermarkets and Central Market.

The gluten free products should be available nationwide by late 2009. Udi’s Foods plans to expand the gluten free line in the near future to include cookies, cinnamon rolls, bagels, pie crusts and cake layers.

Please let me know if you would like to do a product review and to which address we should send products.

Thanks for all that you do to support Celiacs!
